Main registration period

The primary registration period for the semester starting in autumn is between 16 April and 15 May 2026. It is also possible to register after 15 May. The groups are filled in order of registration. If there are free places in the groups, new pupils can also join in the middle of the term.

Important information about registration

  • Groups are primarily selected based on the child’s year of birth.
  • Registration is binding.
  • You can register for a group as long as there are places available. The size of a teaching group is 8–14 students.
  • You can also join a waiting list.
  • Those on the waiting list will be contacted about getting a student place by email or phone.
  • We will notify students of possible changes to teaching by text message or email.
  • You cannot register your child/ward for classes if you have unpaid participation fees to us.
  • Teaching continues automatically in the spring semester if you were registered as a student in the autumn and your place is not cancelled.  This does not apply to short early childhood mix courses and applied courses.
  • If the student cancels their participation, this must be notified immediately by email to taikon@edu.vaasa.fi.
  • The withdrawal date is the day on which the notice of cancellation of participation has been received by TaiKon.
  • Any cancellation of a place free of charge must be made before the start of the third teaching session. If cancellation occurs within the deadline, any pre-paid semester fee will be refunded. Note that absence from a lesson without an acceptable reason is also counted as within the trial period. Absence must be reported in advance.
  • If the pupil cancels participation during teaching weeks 3–6, half of the semester fee will be charged. If participation is cancelled later, the full semester fee will be invoiced.
  • In early childhood mix courses (8 sessions), no fee is charged from those who drop out after the first session. Those who drop out later will be charged the full fee.
  • NOTE! Teaching continues automatically in the spring semester if you were registered as a student in the autumn and your place is not cancelled. This does not apply to short early childhood mix courses and applied courses.

  • The semester fee is invoiced once per semester. You cannot pay the entire academic year at once.
  • If you register for a group that runs for the whole academic year at the start of the spring semester, the course fee is half of the full academic year fee.
