Each year we offer hundreds of young people and students summer jobs, summer substitute positions, internship opportunities and Kesäduuni vouchers.
The youth summer job application for 2026 was open 19 Jan–1 Mar 2026. We received a total of 2,762 applications – warm thanks to all applicants!
The next summer job application will open in January 2027.
Summer jobs for 14–15-year-olds
The City of Vaasa offers two-week summer job positions for 14–15-year-olds. You must turn 14 in the year you are selected for the summer job.
Your summer job could be, for example, a daycare assistant, park worker or assistant instructor at a children’s sports camp.
Summer jobs for 16–17 and 18–29-year-olds
Summer jobs last 1–2 months depending on the position.
Examples of summer jobs include tourist information assistant, park worker, cultural assistant, summer social media assistant, daycare assistant, beach lifeguard, summer artist, sports buddy, general helper or camp assistant.
Summer jobs for higher education students aged 18–29
We offer summer job positions to higher education students aged 18–29, lasting 1–3 months depending on the position.
The City of Vaasa is committed to promoting equal opportunities for all young people to participate in working life. We offer individually supported summer employment opportunities in various city departments for young people and young adults aged 14–29 who require additional support. Support is provided through measures such as job coaching and the adaptation of work tasks. Our goal is to create a positive, supportive, and motivating summer work experience that strengthens each young person’s skills, confidence, and readiness for future employment.

The Summer job voucher is a financial support granted by the City of Vaasa, aimed at facilitating the summer employment of young people from Vaasa and encouraging employers to hire young people for summer jobs.

The City of Vaasa annually awards employment scholarships to young athletes from Vaasa. In cooperation with the Vaasa Region Sports Academy (VSUA), the City aims to support the training and sporting careers of goal-oriented young athletes by offering an alternative option for summer employment.
