Start-up grant

If you are planning to start a business, you can apply for a start-up grant (starttiraha) from us. The grant is designed to support your livelihood during the early stages of full-time entrepreneurship, when your business income may still be limited.

The start-up grant must be applied for before beginning full-time business activities. We recommend contacting your local development company or enterprise agency already during the planning phase. In the Ostrobothnia Employment Area, start-up advisory services are provided by the regional development companies VASEK, Concordia and Dynamo. The subsidy is granted when you start operating as a full-time entrepreneur or expand part-time business activity into full-time.

The start-up grant is granted for six months from the moment you begin as a full-time entrepreneur or expand part-time business activity into full-time. An extension may be granted so that the combined duration of the periods is at most 12 months.

The start-up grant is equal in amount to the basic component of the earnings-related daily allowance. The start-up grant is paid for five days per calendar week. Subsidy is available within the funding allocated to the Employment Services.
