Organising a work trial at a workplace

A work trial gives you as an employer the opportunity to get to know a job seeker in practical work tasks before recruitment. The aim of the work trial is to help the job seeker explore their career options, professional orientation or possibilities to return to working life.

A work trial is not an employment relationship and does not incur costs for the employer. The work trial participant takes part in the general tasks performed at the workplace, and the employer is responsible for guidance and supervision of the work. The work trial participant usually receives unemployment benefits and expense allowance.

The duration and working hours of the work trial are agreed on a case-by-case basis. A work trial usually lasts 1–3 months and can be arranged for up to six months.

Employment Services supports the planning of the work trial and prepares, together with the employer and the job seeker, a written agreement.
