Welcome to the Vaasa Region

The Vaasa region on Finland’s west coast offers experiences for every taste – from the Kvarken Archipelago and idyllic villages to peaceful countryside and vibrant city life. Explore the region’s wide range of attractions and activities and discover your own favourites!

Sea, archipelago, wide-open plains and idyllic villages – the Vaasa region is full of beautiful landscapes to discover! Along Finland’s west coast, nature offers fascinating contrasts. In the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Kvarken Archipelago, land uplift continues to shape the coastline to this day, while further inland, the former seabed has become fertile farmland and vast open plains.

History is also ever-present in the Vaasa region. The area’s many historical attractions and cultural landscapes tell stories of past generations, wars and significant events in Finland’s history. At the same time, the region is looking firmly towards the future – home to the largest energy technology cluster in the Nordic countries, where innovative solutions for a more sustainable future are being developed.

Here, history meets the future, and the sea meets the countryside – with something new waiting to be discovered around every corner.
