Hietasaari Beach is located on the Hietasaari island and is an important recreational area.
Hietasaari Beach is the largest beach in Vaasa. The beach is partly naturally formed and partly built. The sandy beach is 300 metres long. The area features park-like grassy areas and leafy trees.
Hietasaari is popular among people of all ages. That is partly because of the variation in the water depth. The southern part of the beach is shallow and gently deepens, which makes the area especially popular with families with children. The western and northern parts of the beach are noticeably steeper. In these areas, the water depth varies to 3–4 metres at a distance of 10–15 metres from the shore. The bottom of the swimming area is sand and gravel. At the southern end of the sandy beach there are several boulders that give the beach its distinctive appearance.

About 30 metres from the shore there is a floating swimming pier. The pier is located at the northern end of the beach and has steps to help you get in and out of the water. An accessible swimming pier starts from the path next to the café. Jumping from the pier is prohibited.
In addition to the beach, Hietasaari has a park and a small boat harbour. Right next to the beach there is a summer café called Hietasaaren Helmi. During summer there is also SUP Station’s outlet on the beach that rents out paddle boards and offers guided lessons.
During the swimming season, Hietasaari Beach has a notice board with instructions and information for swimmers. The board displays safety instructions, the results of bathing water quality tests and any necessary warnings and prohibitions, such as a possible swimming ban. There are three lifebuoys with ropes: one on the sandy area, one on the pier at the northern end and one on the accessible swimming pier. In addition to the changing room on the beach, the café building has changing rooms and showers as well as separate toilets for women and men.

There is a waste bin for rubbish on the beach and, on the park side, a Molok waste container using a deep collection system.
For play, the beach area has swings for children.
Dogs are not allowed on the beach.
The island is accessed via a connecting road from the Vaskiluoto Bridge between Vaskiluoto and the City Centre, from the E12 road. There is a parking area right next to the beach.
