In Vaasa there are two carpet washing places in Hietasaari (Sandö) and in Palosaari (Brandö). At the washing sites there are six smaller and two larger basins for washing as well as a mangle and drying racks for drying the rugs.
The water used is pumped from the sea and the wastewater is discharged into the sewer.
Users of the rug-washing site are responsible for keeping the site tidy and for their own belongings.
