The amendment to the detailed plan Vöyrinkaupungin konepaja-alue is legally valid. The area is located by the sea near the city centre. The area is being redeveloped for new uses after industrial activity moved to Vaskiluoto. Further planning of the area is underway.
Konepaja-alue will become an attractive place in the future where people can live, work and spend their free time. The aim is to create a diverse and interesting urban environment. The old factory buildings give the area their own recognizable character.
The closed factory area has long separated the city centre, Vöyrinkaupunki and Palosaari. In the future the area will connect different neighbourhoods and will provide smooth cycling and walking routes from the centre to the Onkilahti shore.
