Maintenance of ice areas on weekends

On weekends the baseball stadium and the Vöyrinkaupunki rinks are maintained by one sports facility caretaker.

For other ice areas, freezing and ploughing are done with one large tractor from the sports facilities department.

On a weekend with heavy rain, priority ploughing is given to A-class rinks (the baseball stadium, Vöyrinkaupunki, Isolahti, Huutoniemi) and the ice areas adjacent to them.

Lights and changing rooms of the ice areas

Lights are switched on at the rink only when the ice is ready for skating.

• Lighting is on from 7:00-21:00

Changing rooms are open at manned rinks

• Sun 10:00-16:00

Maintenance of ice areas

Our Sports Facilities Department is responsible for the maintenance of the ice at schools, rinks and sports fields. Our Green Spaces Team maintains the ice at day care centres and playgrounds.

Ice areas are divided into different maintenance classes:

A. Manned rinks

• pesäpallostadion
• Vöyrinkaupunki
• Isolahti
• Huutoniemi

During daytime these four rinks each have their own groundskeeper who takes care of freezing and ploughing. In the evening shift there is a groundskeeper at the baseball stadium and at Vöyrinkaupunki.

On weekends the baseball stadium and Vöyrinkaupunki rinks are maintained by one sports facility caretaker.

B. Other rinks

These rinks are frozen and ploughed with rotating tractors owned by the sports facilities department.

C. Rinks in the Vähäkyrö area
