The municipality’s water services secure residents’ access to high-quality drinking water as well as appropriate sewerage and wastewater treatment. In Vaasa, water supply services are provided by Vaasa Water, which is a public utility of the City of Vaasa.
Vaasa Water’s services are divided into different service areas:

In addition, Vaasa Water procures various support services from the City Group, e.g. Vaasa Water’s Secretarial Services.

Water supply is a critical basic service for society, and its operational reliability must be ensured in all circumstances. Therefore, both the plants and the network operate an on-call service year-round, 24 hours a day.

Exemption from connecting to the wastewater sewer
The Building and Environment Board may grant an exemption from connecting to the sewer on application, if the conditions of section 11 of the Water Services Act are met.
The city’s Public Utility Services are responsible for stormwater on public areas. The management of rain and meltwater is governed by the provisions of Chapter 13 a of the Land Use and Building Act.
