The Building and Environment Board may grant an exemption from connecting to the wastewater sewer if the conditions of section 11 of the Water Services Act are met. An exemption must be applied for separately.
On the service area of the public wastewater sewer network, a property shall as a rule be connected to the sewer. The Building and Environment Board may, upon application, grant a permanent or temporary exemption from connecting to the wastewater sewer if the conditions of section 11 of the Water Services Act are met:
- connection to the network would be unreasonable for the owner or possessor of the property, taking into account the costs arising from the connection, the low need for the water utility’s services, or some other similar special reason
- the conveyance and treatment of the property’s wastewater can otherwise be arranged in accordance with the requirements set out in the Environmental Protection Act
